Japanese Stone Garden Incense Holder | Ryoanji | Made in Japan

Bring the meditative stillness of Japan's most celebrated Zen garden into your home with this exquisite Japanese Stone Garden (Karesansui) incense holder, made in Japan. A beautifully crafted object of quiet contemplation, inspired by the legendary stone garden of Ryoanji Temple, Kyoto.

The Design

This beautifully detailed incense holder is inspired by the iconic stone garden of Ryoanji Temple – one of Japan's most celebrated and mysterious Zen gardens, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its raked gravel and carefully placed stones have inspired contemplation and wonder for over five centuries. The removable stone-shaped top makes this holder exceptionally easy to use and care for, while its elegant design makes it a stunning decorative object in its own right. Safe for use with long incense sticks.

The Philosophy

Karesansui (枯山水 – Dry Landscape Garden) is one of Japan's most profound artistic and spiritual traditions – a Zen garden of raked gravel and stone that represents the ocean, mountains, and the infinite. Designed for meditation and quiet reflection, the stone garden invites us to slow down, breathe, and find stillness in simplicity. The perfect companion for your incense ritual.
